Sometimes you lose your sparkle and your joy of being creative. During these times a sketchbook practice can help reconnecting with the flow.

That’s what I experienced last summer. A workshop on painting daily life helped me reconnect with my creativity and when I started using my hands again to express myself, the joy came back.

I decided to use gouache to experiment in my sketchbook and that’s what showed up.

I had so much fun painting fish that I continued to paint ocean themes for quite a while afterwards. But I did return to watercolor. wink

These are the materials I used for the gouache paintings. Horadam gouache from Schmicke, watercolor brushes and a palette. The sketchbook was from Fabriano, A5, 160 g/qm and worked quite well with gouache.
